		<description><![CDATA[If you have never worked out, it's going to be a little harder for you to build muscles initially, but it is worth the effort!]]></description>
			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>One aspect of weight loss surgery that is often forgotten is exercise. Actually, it&#8217;s not forgotten, it is usually the most aggravating part of the whole weight loss journey.</p>
<p>I&#8217;m not talking about traditional exercise because is many cases, it has been a decade or more since weight loss surgery patients have worked out. If you have never worked out &#8211; you have never built your muscles and that is a different category.</p>
<p>If you have ever been in good physical shape, it is easier to get back into shape because muscles have memories. The muscle will &#8220;remember&#8221; what do to and will rebuild more rapidly than a muscle that has never been worked.</p>
<p>If you have been obese since childhood or have never had a period in time when you were athletic, it&#8217;s going to be harder for you. That is not to discourage you it is a warning to be realistic and consistent with your exercise efforts. Muscles and all of their benefits are worth the effort.</p>
<p>When you are strong physically, you are much more open to new activities and sports. If you weigh 300 pounds, you are not very likely to try kayaking. In fact, the idea sounds absurd, yet if you have been exercising, losing weight and gaining muscles, it sounds like an adventure. It could literally be the time of your life!</p>
<p>The exercise portion also helps to spiral up your diet efforts. The better your workout goes, the more you want to feel good while you workout and see the benefits of your workout.</p>
<p>There is a certain amount of redemption involved. You no longer live the life of a couch potato. Once you get the ball rolling and get out there. You will be able to do things that you never imagined&#8230;and now you have redeemed your life. It isn&#8217;t too late.</p>
<p>So, when you start your weight loss journey, it is important to meet your muscles where they&#8217;re at and to build all of the muscles possible, they are the doorway to your new life.</p>
<p>At Positive Workouts, we believe that the Little Engine that Could had it right all along. It is the combination of telling yourself you can do it WHILE you are doing it that makes all of the difference in the world. So while you are working out make sure you listen to your head and if the thoughts are negative, notice it and consciously switch them around to a positive thought.</p>
<p>Think about it this way, would you say that statement to your best friend? If not, be gentle, encouraging and fun with yourself! It&#8217;s the journey that changes us!</p>

What&#8217;s going on?</span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Garamond;"><span style="font-size: small;">The key to permanent weight loss is to understand that your emotions or your emotional state make your decisions. In other words, decisions are made in the emotional portions of your brain.</span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Garamond;"><span style="font-size: small;">Let&#8217;s say you&#8217;re on a new doing and you are doing well. When all of the sudden BAM something happens and your emotions are triggered. After that, the feast is not over until the fat lady sings. This isn&#8217;t a bad diet day &#8211; it&#8217;s a back slide without handrails. </span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Garamond;"><span style="font-size: small;">How did that happen? People do not become obese without a reason. And one of the most absurb reasons is that your whole family is obese. We will discuss that in a later forum.</span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Garamond;"><span style="font-size: small;">Many obese people were abused and use obesity to protect themselves from the abuser. Many, many chilren were abused and turned to food. They became obese adults without unpacking their baggage and claiming their lives.</span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Garamond;"><span style="font-size: small;">Other obese people use food to hide from their failures. It keeps them on the bench and out of the game. Maybe your relationship failed and you don&#8217;t want to risk it again. Food never rejected you. Food was always their for you. But you do not have a healthy relationship with your body.</span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Garamond;"><span style="font-size: small;">If you don&#8217;t value the body that you&#8217;ve been given &#8211; whatever shape it is current in&#8230;no one else will. People are cruel. They stare, they whisper and worse of all they say stupid things. </span></span></p>

This is about building a firm foundation of healthy thoughts and feeling. <p>When you change the way you think, you can change the way you feel. At that point, you are able to leave an old, destructive life behind and make better- healthier- choices. The mind and body were always meant to work in harmony. Somehow, you got off the path and are at a place that you don&#8217;t want to be &#8211; but don&#8217;t know how to get out.</p>
<p>It all starts with a relationship with your body. At this point, if you are obese, you probably have an unhealthy relationship with your body. In many ways, obesity is a form of self-abuse. Taking your anger, your hurts and your sadness out on your own body. Stuffing your emotions down with food &#8211; until you can&#8217;t feel a thing &#8211; except the bloatedness that has followed you for years.</p>
<p>The body&#8217;s answer to all of these pent-up, beat-up and buried emotions is exercise. I know- you don&#8217;t want to hear about diet and exercise. I&#8217;m just talking about taking a walk. Taking a walk is a great stress reducer. One of the best ways it reduces stress is by taking a chunk of those unprocessed emotions and lets them go. If you choose to challenge, process and let them go! </p>
<p>The second part of exercise is to add positive afirmations. When you exercise to the sound of positive affirmations, it cracks the shell of some of the most destructive thought patterns we have. For example: Maybe you have the self-destructive thought &#8220;It&#8217;s never my turn &#8211; I always lose&#8221;. It is time to banish that thought pattern to exile.</p>
<p>What am I talking about?</p>
<p>If you are walking, you will get tired. As you walk, many of your emotional walls will get weak. Everytime those emotional walls are weakened by physical exhaustion &#8211; you have the opportunity to challenge them, smash them and bannish them from your life.</p>
<p>You do this by adding positive affirmations &#8211; to your workout. Step by step, mile after mile, you will be able to form a healthy relationship with your body!</p>
